Invisalign

Gain confidence with s a straighter smile!

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a system of clear plastic aligner trays used to help straighten teeth. They are similar to braces but much more comfortable and much less visible. Based on a schedule decided by your dentist, you’ll upgrade to a new tray that slightly moves the position of your teeth to the desired position over time.

Who is a Good Candidate for Invisalign?

Many people are good candidates for Invisalign. While most patients who get Invisalign are teens and young adults, those who are much older can benefit from the treatment as well. With high satisfaction ratings, it’s clear that most people who qualify as good candidates end up satisfied with the results.

Candidates for Invisalign should ask themselves:

  • Am I willing and able to wear the trays at least 22 hours a day?
  • Are you dealing with underbites, overbites, gaps between the teeth, or crowding?
  • Do I have all my permanent adult teeth?
  • Do I hate the look of traditional metal braces?
  • Do my teeth affect my self-confidence and/or oral health?
  • Do I have good oral hygiene habits?

Benefits of Invisalign

There are an array of benefits that come with using Invisalign versus other dental straightening systems. The benefits include:

  • Nearly invisible to the eye
  • More comfortable than sharp braces
  • Easy to upgrade to your next aligner tray at home
  • Minimizes visits to your dentist’s office
  • Allows you to eat more easily
  • Easier to brush your teeth thoroughly

Invisalign Process

To make the aligners, your dentist first creates a virtual impression of your teeth by utilizing advanced 3D computer-imaging technology. After the virtual image is completed, your dentist will be able to show you a comparison of what your teeth look like now and what they will look like after the Invisalign treatment. Using this model, your dentist will then have your aligners fabricated.

Once you have your aligners, your dentist will show you how to put them in and explain the process. From there, you simply change your aligners as your dentist advises and take them out when you eat or when you clean your teeth. But don’t forget to put them back in. You want to have them in for at least 22 hours per day.

You will also have several dental visits throughout the process to ensure everything is moving along on schedule.

After Invisalign

Once your Invisalign treatment is over, you will get to reveal your new, beautiful smile. But there are still some things you’ll need to do to ensure your teeth stay looking fantastic. You will be given a retainer to wear to ensure your teeth don’t move back to where they were. It is imperative that you wear your retainers after treatment, or your teeth will start to shift back.

You’ll also want to schedule your regular exams with your dentist to ensure your teeth stay healthy and in the right position.
