BOTOX® COSMETIC

Are you bothered by unwanted lines and facial wrinkles that make you look older than you feel? If so, you may be able to benefit from Botox. At Life-Centered Dentistry, Dr. Ludwig is certified by the American Association of Facial Esthetics to perform Botox injections.

What is Botox?

Botox is an injectable neurotoxin treatment used to smooth dynamic lines and wrinkles. Dynamic lines are caused by the repeated muscle movements we make on a daily basis when we smile, laugh, squint, or frown. Botox can be injected into these muscles to relax them, resulting in smoother skin and a more youthful appearance.

Botox is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to temporarily soften moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines in adults.

Who is a Candidate for Botox?

Healthy adults 18 years and older can benefit from Botox treatments. However, it is important to note that those who are pregnant or nursing should not receive Botox treatments. If you are interested in learning more about whether Botox is right for you, contact our office today to schedule a consultation.

The Botox Treatment Process

The Botox treatment process is quick and easy. To begin, the treatment area will be cleansed, and a topical numbing cream may be offered to ensure your comfort. Dr. Ludwig will then skillfully inject the Botox into the designated areas using a very thin needle. Treatment typically takes about 15 minutes to complete.

Botox Aftercare and Results

There is no downtime required following Botox injections, so patients can return to their regular activities right away. Patents may experience temporary and mild redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection site. For best results, it is recommended that patients avoid strenuous activity, alcohol consumption, and high heat exposure for 24 hours after treatment. Results can last 3-5 months, after which the effects of Botox begin to wear off.

As with any cosmetic or medical treatment, there are some rare but serious side effects associated with Botox. If you experience breathing problems, double or blurred vision, or trouble swallowing following your Botox treatment, please seek medical help immediately.
